Hyundai Offering Complimentary Charger and Installation Credit

Hyundai is offering a temporary new perk for those that purchase or lease a new EV with them: a complimentary EV charger and installation credit! According to a press release, Hyundai says that if you purchase or lease an IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, or KONA Electric by October 31, 2023, and use Hyundai Motor Finance, you will get a complimentary charger and installation credit. The charger unit included in the promotion will be a ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger.

This type of promotion is becoming more popular with automakers as a way to help alleviate some of the initial points of contention with consumers about how and where to charge. By providing a charger and having installation covered, it encourages consumers to make the jump to electric. It also helps consumers understand that most charging is done at home and handled just like charging a cellphone. While some manufacturers have eliminated even providing a level 1 charger with new vehicles, some manufacturers have opted to include EVSE with level 1 and level 2 adapters, which makes the home charging process as easy for the consumer as possible. This new approach by Hyundai is one step further, contracting with a third party supplier to offer the equipment to customers on their dime.
