Hilton and Tesla Join Forces for EV Charging at Hilton Properties
Tesla and Hilton have entered into a partnership to bring EV charging to thousands of hotels starting in 2024. Hilton’s official press release states “up to 20,000 Tesla Universal Wall Connectors are slated to be installed at 2,000 hotels in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, making Hilton’s planned EV charging network the largest of any hospitality company.” With the EVA pushing for more accessible and practical charging solutions, this is a good example of a productive partnership between two unrelated but collectively integrated companies. Hilton says each location slated for the chargers will have at least six installed, which is much more useful for a setting like a hotel, which on average have one to four chargers, max.
Hilton also says that “in 2023, the website’s EV charging search attribute had the fastest volume of growth to-date, jumping from fourth to second highest in converting searches to stays.” That alone is proof of the importance for charging to be available and prolific at overnighting destinations. This also helps improve both the guest experience for Hilton properties as well as increase ownership satisfaction and retention for Tesla. Rebecca Tinucci, senior director of charging infrastructure for Tesla, says: “To ensure electric vehicle adoption at scale, our joint industry goal must be to vastly improve upon the traditional gasoline vehicle ownership experience, not just meet it.” Projects like this will help with that goal.
