EVs ‘Missing’ on Dealership Lots, says Report from Sierra Club

A disturbing trend seems to be taking root when it comes to EV inventory on dealership lots. “66% of car dealerships nationwide did not have a single EV available for sale, while 34% of dealers did have an EV available.

Below are key findings about EV inventory and dealerships:


Right now, the only reasonable charging network for distance travel in an EV is the Tesla supercharger network. Tesla superchargers always work, they are lightning fast, and they are almost everywhere. We have both a VW EV and a Tesla, but after a few very frustrating attempts at 250-300 mile trips in the VW, we only travel distances in the Tesla.

Electric Vehicles Making Inroads in Gas-Guzzling Texas!

Many new EV buyers are being persuaded by high gas costs and to the performance, style, and high-tech features of electric vehicles.

From Wapo:

“Some EV buyers in the Plano area expressed concern about the climate, but most said they were drawn by the performance, style and high-tech features of the vehicles — and the convenience and savings of avoiding the gas pump.”

“I used to drive a Mercedes-Benz SUV and I went to go fill up my gas tank and it was over $4 for premium gas. So I went the very next day, and I traded it in for an electric vehicle,” said Kate Allen, sitting in her Model 3, sipping iced coffee while she charged. The possibility of helping the environment was a “bonus” — not her main motivation, she added.
